The day will come when every man will know the insides of animals. On that day, a crime against an animal will be considered a crime against humanity itself. "

What is the difference between “paraglider” and “paragliding”?

The difference is only in writing, as the two names refer to the same thing. The name Parapente comes from the French: PARA which means parachute (parachute) and PENTE is the same as hill, hill and Paraglider comes from English: GLIDER which is a glider. Paragliding, unlike Parachutes, has a configuration that allows it to perform in flight, taking off is done on a mountain, thus allowing the use of upward currents to promote their support.

How do I start practicing the sport of gliding?

Firstly, you must decide which type of equipment you like best, and for this you are advised to make a double flight with a qualified instructor, who will be explaining and demonstrating the peculiarities of each equipment. After that, the ideal is to take classes with a recognized school where they will teach you in a didactic and efficient way so that you can practice the sport safely.

Do I have to buy the equipment to learn?

There is no need to buy the equipment before your "graduation", schools have the necessary equipment for their learning. After finishing the course if you decide to really dedicate yourself to the sport, your instructor will be able to assist you in purchasing the most suitable equipment for your practice.

What equipment is needed to fly?

Basically you will need some equipment for each modality, which are:

Paraglider:

The sail or canopy, also called by many as the “paraglider” itself. It is the top part in which when inflated it will have a wing shape, creating the necessary conditions for the flight.

The harness, this equipment is the “chair” in which you will be attached and connected to the canopy.

How does a hang glider flight differ from a paraglider flight?

The difference is in the behavior and attitudes that a wing pilot has in relation to that of a paraglider, that is, the form of piloting must be different from each other, the essence is the same, using upward currents to fly, however, the way a piece of equipment works during the flight until its landing has characteristics which only with the practice and dedication one acquires the necessary knowledge to master each piece of equipment.

Why don't you see so many delta wings flying, and paragliders are the majority?

Some factors have led one modality to stand out more than the other, among the factors are the practicality that the paraglider offers, transportation is much easier, as it is packaged in a backpack in which the practitioner can easily carry it. Another factor is the type of flight it provides, it is considered more appreciative for flying at a lower speed than a hang glider and even the possibility of landing in small areas makes a big difference for many pilots.

In terms of safety, the current paragliders improve a lot, however, however they are still much more susceptible to breakdowns than a hang glider, because they have an armed structure the hang glider does not close the equipment in flight.

The reserve parachute, essential equipment in the event of an unrecoverable breakdown in the main canopy during the flight. In which it will be removed from the specific compartment and released so that it can save you from something worse.

Helmet, fundamental equipment to protect you from sequelae in the head.

Hang gliding:

The wing is basically the equipment you use for the flight itself.

Belt is the equipment that you will be attached to and connected to the hang glider.

The reserve parachute, essential equipment for your safety so that it can be used in the last case in which the main equipment does not have more flight conditions.

Helmet, essential equipment to protect you from sequelae in the head.

How does a free flight championship work?

It depends a lot on the type of championship in question, today, the most frequent ones are the ones that use electronic equipment (GPS) for the verification of the information through software programmed for this purpose.

This specific championship includes meeting goals predetermined by the organization of the event, these goals consist of leaving one point and going to others, but following some rules such as taking off at the specified time and passing close to these points as quickly as possible.
